5 Reasons you Should Bother to Home Brew Beer

Article by Neil McDonald

Lots of people ask why I got into home brewing so I thought I would put up a list of some of the benefits of homebrewing and maybe sway some more people to take it up.

1. Save Money

This is what most people think when they decide to brew at home and certainly one of the reasons I started. It is true the beer you make at home is a fraction of the cost than that you buy at the supermarket. In a few brews at home your friends won?t even be able to tell the difference between your beer and a shop bought one.

2. Brew what you want to drink

Breweries have to make what they know will sell and at the end of the day, having to cater for everyone won?t necessarily make you a beer that will make you as excited as you will be when you open your very own brew.

3. Learning a new craft

Like any hobby home brewing can become an obsession once you have started. Even more so with brewing. You will become a attraction to all your friends because they will be wanting a pint from you. If you tell someone you have just made 40 pints of beer then their first response will be something like ?Oh that sounds good, we will have to sample some?

4. Join a group

There are plenty of clubs and groups that meet once every couple of weeks and all you have to do is look one up on the internet and you will have met a whole bunch of like-minded people with the same interests as you. Groups like this can really help you develop your skill and there is always the tasting. You will usually be sampling each others beers and commenting.

5. Taking it a step further

I know plenty of people who?s dream it is to open a brewery. All these people are homebrewers. Opening a brewery will not be every homebrewers aspiration but a large percentage would love the possibility of doing so. What better platform than knowing how the process of making beer inside and out because you have been making beer at home all this time.

I could go on and on with other reasons to get started brewing. If you are interested then there is plenty of information to get you started on your first home brew right here.
